We have now added IKKPS KuneKune Pig Shows to all the wonderful features for our KuneKune Registry. We are so super excited for all our members!
We are so excited to now be offering KuneKune Shows. IKKPS will be doing 2-4 shows per year depending on the participation. While Kunekune shows are a ton of fun, they are also a wonderful opportunity to learn. IKKPS is of course, all about learning and growing as KuneKune Breeders. Learn more about Conformation in a friendly environment. Entering shows and planning very step with your family can also be entertainment for the entire family. You will need to work together as a family to get your KuneKune ready for the show, pick your ring area for videoing, plan your video, practice, and train.
As most everything with IKKPS is meant to be different, our shows will be too. We will be offering Lil' Tike classes for KuneKune piglets from 8 weeks - 12 weeks as well. When you are breeding KuneKunes and trying to figure out the best ones to sell as breeding stock, you can sometimes get a bit "kennel blind". Kennel blind is a term used more for dogs but, what that means is you cannot really judge your own animals unbiasedly. So, offering this class will help breeders make a more informed decision. You know us, we pride ourselves on being different!
Our judges will always be outside of the KuneKune community to ensure that our IKKPS KuneKune Pig shows are unbiased, impartial and show no favoritism. As IKKPS is lead and managed by non-breeders, it is so easy for us to obtain this for our members. Have you ever been to pig shows and the ones that win all the time are the ones hosting the show? The ones that are hiring the judge seem to win! Yep, over the last 10 years I have seen that too many times to count.
Another thing that is quite different in IKKPS is our Homesteading Pig classes. This has been added to our IKKPS KuneKune Pig Shows. Most swine show call these classes Market pigs or Market Hogs. In IKKPS, we call them homesteading pigs. Homesteading pigs are pigs that are not meant for breeding. They are meant for KuneKune pork. Most registries will do them by weight classes.
IKKPS has elected to still offer them by ages. You may wonder why IKKPS has made the decision to change this. Well, by judging the pigs by age, you will be able to see the size difference in similar ages and determine for yourself which KuneKune Bloodlines are tending to run bigger than other lines. So, we did this for the sole purpose of learning more about the various bloodlines with KuneKunes and the size differences. With believe this will be a wonderful learning experience.
