How IKKPS utilizes this tool

Every month IKKPS offers members an opportunity to come together as a community and learn together. We have a featured topic that the meeting is centered around but, we answer and discuss anything members want to discuss. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow KuneKune Breeders and to put a face with a name you may have heard in the KuneKune community.  This is an excellent way for IKKPS to assist breeders so that we can become a community.

Our meetings are conducted in a relaxed, comfortable environment of fellowship.  No one is muted unless they choose to be.  You can turn on or off your camera as you choose. When you have a question, speak up and ask it right then while it is on your mind instead of having to wait for a question-and-answer section and then you forgot the question. If you are a bit shy, you can easily send a chat message and we will read this question for you to help you feel more comfortable. 

What our topics have been so far

First, we began this membership benefit in January and at that time we had planned to have the meetings once per quarter. Most importantly, we had so much fun the members wanted it to be monthly so, since we are a member driven organization, which is what we do now.

January was a herd book demo. We discussed all the many ways to use the herd book for research, planning breeding pairs and how to leverage the power of the herd book for breeder promotions.

February was a great topic about Herd Management. We discussed predators and how to keep the pigs/piglets safe, vaccination protocols, how to give a vaccination, what to give as well as deworming. Then we discussed how to feed properly and how this may affect how your KuneKune turn out as adults and if they get pregnant or not. It was a great meeting.

March should be a ton of fun as we are doing conformation. How to evaluate piglets to see if they will be breeding pigs or pet or meat animals. We will look at photos and discuss topics like what is a good tail set, top line, pasterns and more.
